Working conditions According to Wois Nurses work in hospitals or clinics so the mostly work indoors . Nurse uniform are usually scrubs or lab coats. nurse’s work very near patients and doctors. They come into physical contact with patients throughout the day therefore they are exposed to diseases or infections on a daily basis. Hours “ Nurses Generally have a set schedule each week. most work 40 hours a week. May work nights, weekends, and holidays, especially in hospitals or nursing Homes. Physical demand According to wois registered nurse frequently have to stand, walk or run for a long period of time. They have to be able to bend or twist their body’s . It helps pump blood around the body when the person's heart can’t. My newsworthy article is from CQ researchers. “A serious shortage of registered nurses (RNs) is forcing thousands of U.S. hospitals to function with skeleton crews, possibly causing hundreds of unnecessary deaths and injuries. Many nurses are simply getting old and retiring, but many experts blame the shortage on low pay, poor working conditions and low enrollments in nursing schools. Meanwhile short-staffed hospitals are taking controversial steps such as offering large signing bonuses and recruiting nurses from overseas. Nationwide, there was a shortage in 2001 of 126,000 full-time RNs, but the shortage will surge to 808,000 by 2020

Job shadow / Doctors for a day!

On February 3rd 2017 I attended Doctors for the day as my Job shadow because of patient confidentiality it was hard to find a hospital or clinic to job shadow at, Doctor for a day was perfect because I got to spend the whole day with different types of physicians like physical therapy, prosthetic and orthopedics, occupational therapy. I got to see how it was like to go into those career for a day and made me want to go into a healthcare career more. when I first arrived we had a little photoshoot where they had us put on a lab coat and a stethoscope so we could look/feel the part of a Doctor. after we took our pictures we went to different stations they had set up. first station they showed us how to administer physical exams, measure blood pressure and take vital signs. My second station was Intubation simulation dummy I found it the most fun because we lean how to use a tracheal tube(breathing tube) to intubate on a dummy like if was a real person that was having troubl

My name is Abigail, I’m 18 year old, first generation to to college Latina living in the rainy/cloudy city of Seattle. I have always had strong passion for the world of health care, since I was young I knew that I  wanted a career that was hands on and but also that involve helping people and I have always seen myself working at a hospital, clinic in the future, what better than being a nurse they take care of you since the minute you're at your worst until you up on your feet again. But also I never been afraid at the sight of blood when ever one of my family member get a cut or it involves blood they always come to me for help and I like that they come to me because I get to play nurse for a little and not many things grosses me out I have always had a strong stomach.
